El Mekong
The majestic Mekong River runs for 970 kilometres, marking the natural border that separates the Isaan region from Laos. This river is not only a symbol of the region, but also an essential part of the culture and economy of Loei, where its influence is reflected in fishing, agriculture and the daily life of its inhabitants.
Phi Ta Khon
This festival is held in June in Dan Sai and combines collective village fun with ancient superstitious beliefs related to agriculture. During the event, numerous “Bang Fai” (traditional rockets) are launched to pay homage to Phaya Than, the deity who grants rain and ensures the fertility of the land.
